Expert: Joe Huston Video transcript: Hello my name is Joe 'doc Huston and I am here at my friend's gym in Portland, Oregon to share some tricks, tactics and strategies to help you get the most out of your boxing career. So there is a lot to know about boxing gloves. The first thing you should be aware of is that there is a few different kinds of boxing gloves. There is bag gloves, there is sparring gloves and there is finally the fight gloves. Now I would recommend getting to know the different types of gloves out there and also selecting the one with your own personal preference. So the simplest kind of bag gloves, and the lightest, is just the old standard leather with no cushion whatsoever. The advantages of that is that it more easily transmits the impact of the hit into your hand so that first of all you'd be able to judge the quality of the hit and second of all because it transmits more of an impact into your hand, that aid in the toughening process. The next type of bag glove is just a little bit of cushion in it. They are a little bit heavier than the first and it's more comfortable for the longer workouts.
